Most of the students in our school cannot afford art materials. There is a lack of supplies in school for students to use. In order to have success in art, pencils, sharpener, paint brushes, paper all need to be used. This project is presented for the Fall season as apples are an important fruit in this season. The students look forward to art weekly. They are creative and enthusiastic about creating their artworks. We will also discuss the importance of eating fruits for snack instead of candy and junk foods. Before the students start the projects, they will draw their picture as a practice using sharpened pencils. Most of the children do not have sharpeners so before we start all pencils must have a point, therefore the pencil sharpener will be used. They will draw a bowl and then the apples inside the bowl as a practice. (When they have mastered the technique, they will draw it using their pencils on watercolor paper.) They will trace the whole picture and then paint the apples either red, yellow or green using watercolor brushes and paint. I will extend this project to a hands project by having the students create the basket of apples in a 3D-sculpture using the modeling clay. The tubs will be used to put the students supplies in (pencils, crayons, clay, drawing paper, paint). Using these different materials in class will broaden the students use of a art supplies for future. Due to Covid-19 students must have their own storage bins for supplies as there is no sharing of materials allowed.
