Describing a class as a whole is difficult, because I feel each student brings their own unique qualities to the table. But, I can confidently say that each child brings passion and curiosity into the classroom. Being a Title 1 school, many students come from poverty stricken homes, whose parents are working 2-3 jobs, all hours of the day. Students are not given the luxury of going to museums or having exploration experiences. I believe it is my job to bring these experiences to the classroom, where ALL students are given the opportunity to observe, wonder, and learn. Our classroom extends beyond textbooks, to bring their world alive. Meaningful learning must extend from books to hands-on learning.
