My accelerated students always need a new challenge and a new perspective. Reading Lord of the Flies will help them to challenge themselves as readers as well as examine their own classroom community more deeply. Through this novel study, my students will gain a deeper understanding of themselves and how they interact with others. This novel study will help challenge my students to read outside of their comfort zone and to think in new ways. It will encourage discussion, community, and help them to apply literature to their own lives. As they prepare for high school and new experiences, it will help them understand their role in society.
