When spending an entire day in a class, it becomes like your second home. And just like at home, we like to be comfortable. Readers and writers often need different types of seating to really get in the groove. Flexible seating will allow my students the ability to choose what type of workspace they will create their work in for that day. I know there are days where sitting in a chair is great, but there are other days I want to be down on the ground stretching my legs. As a kid, I can only imagine all the distractions that come from being in a room with 20+ people. Being able to bounce or wobble can help keep these little minds engaged. Allowing students to choose their workspace, gives them a sense of independence and confidence in the classroom. I hope each of my students will have the opportunity to participate in flexible seating this year!
