My students are critical thinkers when given the proper support to develop this skill & talent. They are my children who have a spark about something & can explore their interest in class. They want to collaborate with others & learn more about the world around them. My school is located in an urban area of metropolitan Atlanta. Most students are low income & qualify for free and reduced lunch. Many of them do not have all of the background knowledge/experiences as many students their age should or do. Transiency rates are somewhat high. They also don't have all the tech tools needed. While that information listed above may seem challenging, these students are able to learn! I want to provide them with experiences & opportunities that are meaningful so they can be taken to the next level to meet standards and go beyond! They need to go beyond connecting with students in the classroom & connect with others outside the walls of the school! They are eager, motivated, & curious!
