My students have a variety of learning disabilities and levels of ability. They mainly come from lower income households. More than half qualify for free lunch. In addition, many come from households where English is not the primary language spoken at home. Many of my students struggle with spelling, and therefore, have difficulty expressing themselves in writing. They are afraid to take risks when writing for fear that they will make many spelling mistakes. Computers would eliminate this fear of spelling mistakes.
