My students come from low income areas in a single parent households along with 3 to 4 siblings. I also find many students being raised by grandparents as well. The are eager to learn but seem to be at least 6 to 8 months below grade level. This is due to lack of sources for preschool, materials and help at home. Our school tries to provide supplies and technology for students at school but many don't have these resources at home to continue the learning there. We provide tutoring and other after-school programs, but it still not enough. Our staff is very giving and caring trying to do whatever possible for the students. This still isn't enough to help with all their academic and family needs.
