Every single one of my students is unique. They all have aspirations to go to college or find a career they will love or join the military. Oncologist, fashion designer, underwater welder, and pilot are just a few of the many futures that my students are working towards. They love listening to and creating music, playing sports, and artistically expressing themselves. At the same time, our school is one of many that is continually having its budget cut. Living in a rural, low income area where jobs are scarce (most of the manufacturing jobs left long ago) and almost all of our students are receiving some form of public assistance means that my students do not have equal access to the same opportunities that I had growing up. Regardless of socio-economic status, my students deserve an education that will prepare them for life after high school. This means exposure to and practice with new technologies.
