As a teacher, my mission is to develop students into hard-working learners who love to explore and inquire about the world around them. My classroom is meant to be a warm, welcoming safe haven for all of my students, where their biggest concern is making sure they give 100% on all of their work. Most of my students will begin the school year below grade level, but they are all eager to learn. My students are still young and innocent, even as they begin to grow and question the world around them. They want to show teachers and their parents what they're capable of. They want to know that someone is proud of them. Living on the south side of Chicago, they can appreciate the concept of working hard to get by in life. Most of them will face several challenges, through no fault of their own, on their journey to becoming college-bound high school graduates. Because of this, I know the most important lesson I can instill in my students is that perseverance is the key to every success.
