My students live in a socio-economically disadvantaged area. They struggle to get through a week without strife. They look at school as a safe haven, a place to just be kids. They need to succeed there, despite their many academic and emotional issues, because it's all they have. Every "little" anyone can do to help them is a big thing to them.
