Most of my students are second language learners and many come from farm labor parents. The students are eager to learn and I find them engaged in every story I read, even though many do not understand the language. Our school is comprised of students with heart, children overcoming poverty and trying to make a difference about their situation through study and hard work. I instill an attitude of "you can do it," like the little engine that could, helping the students achieve in anyway I can. This is why I really hope to create this listening center that can be independent and our students will not only be able to look at the pictures, but also hear the story.
