My school is in the heart of a culturally and economically diverse community. My students come from countries all around, ranging from Russia, France, the Philipines, Argentina, Cuba, Ecuador and Mexico. Due to the diversity of culture within my classroom, I would like to create specialized writing lessons that highlight the works of authors from all backgrounds and cultures, while also allowing the children the ability to use their culture and ancestral history to create self-portraits of their lives and experiences in their writing. Due to major budget cuts however in Miami-Dade, it will be impossible for my classroom to attain the needed materials. For this, I ask for your help.
