The Edison robots I am requesting will be used for after school and summer programs in grades 6-8. They will also be a tool used in our city wide annual 5th grade career fair and will expose this age group to a technology career. The students will use Block coding which is a great way for the beginning coder to learn sequential coding order, loops and variables. In order to expand on coding abilities, this project will allow the student to see a physical object react to their code. The robot will only do what it is programmed to do, which is an essential component to understanding computer science. Understanding the logic behind computers is an important 21st century skill that all young students should know in order to prepare them for the future of technology.
