Imagine a classroom where ingenious thoughts, scribbled on loose-leaf, immediately jump OFF the page for an entire class to see. Empowered with best proven, energetic practices of Teach for America, I teach Middle School (7th-8th) Special Education in a team-teaching environment. That means that my co-teacher and I teach 30-34 students English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Our classroom motto is, "Work hard. Be Nice." My students jokingly call the neighborhood in which our public school is located, "Gotham City." My school's neighborhood has high crime and a very high teenage pregnancy rate. A few of my students live in homeless shelters; most students consume two free meals a day at the school. Without exception, ALL of my students have the ability to work hard and achieve.
