Our school is a high priority school. We have an enrollment of 4500+ students. Our students have hard enough time trying to fit in all the academic work as possible. Our students have pressure applied to them from all sides, Math, English, Social studies, AP classes. In all, I service the ESL, ELL, SDC, RSP and GATE students. I would like to think that my class is a place they can learn the new technology that they may apply it to their academic courses. In some of my assignments I have them create a first year college budget, however some of our students feel that they will not qualify for college. I believe that if given the opportunity, especially in our low income community that many of the students will persevere. I am trying to set a comfortable setting so that coming to class is comfortable, fun and a great learning environment.
