My students are typical fifth graders in a large urban school district. They like learning, however, they want everything to be fast and furious and sometimes you have to slow down and take in the scenery. My students like recess and lunch. They have a difficult time with taking hold of and maintaining vocabulary words. My school is a Title I school and the students are typical students. They like to learn new things and I know that exposure to vocabulary words and current events will help in the acquisition of knowledge. I have used vocabulary books and news magazines in the past, however I have found it more and more difficult to get parents to purchase these items. With a set of materials dedicated for classroom use, my students will have hands-on access to materials without having to share.
