My students come from diverse backgrounds. Over half of them are learning English as a second language and their home languages are Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Somali, Tagalog, Arabic, or Tigrinya. Many of my students are refugees and/or born in another country. They are eager to learn and get excited when they learn something new. My students love to share and work together with their bilingual partners throughout our school day. My school is considered a high needs, high impact school with over 90 percent of our students on free or reduced lunch and over 50 percent English Language Learners. We promote college after graduation and each classroom adopts a university or college. Classrooms decorate their class with pennants, mascots, etc. from their adopted university/college. Our students know, "We are College Bound!"
