All students in grades 1-3 are tested to determine which students would benefit from extra reading instruction. My students are struggling readers in grades 1-3 who have scored below the 25% on multiple tests. Many of my students are 1-2 years behind and need extra support in order to learn to read. Teaching my students to be strong, effective readers will help them reach their goals, succeed in school, and become productive members of our community. Providing my students daily access to technology is particularly important because most of my students do not have access to technology at home. My school is a Title I school and over 88% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. It is located in a small city on the southeast coast. Our school building is old and worn and our students come to us with many obstacles, but deserve high expectations, highly effective teachers, and the best education which includes 21st Century technology.
