I teach physical education for students with autism in the city of Detroit. These students have severe and profound disabilities that effect their ability to learn in the same manner as their peers. The students have trouble with connecting with their peers on a social level. The students have trouble with coordination and gross motor skills. Many of these students come from an environment of poverty. However, all these challenges don't change the fact that these are children. They love to run, jump, and play just like any child would. These students are resilient, and they have grit. They overcome obstacles daily. These students are happy and they have great joy.

About my class
