My kindergarten students are eager learners that live in a community that values outdoor exploration. These twenty five and six-year olds have an intrinsic interest in natural phenomenon and really enjoy exploring their natural environment. Luckily, our school is surrounded by mountains and other outdoor learning opportunities, many of these are within walking distance. They also are fearless, willing to take risks. They are wholly prepared to get their hands dirty, and science activities allow them to do just this. They can explore and ask questions as they learn to make observations, predictions, and share their conclusions. Additionally, science at the kindergarten level is accessible to all students regardless of their reading and math skills. This furthers its appeal to students.
