I serve a classroom with 30 beautiful students who work towards peace, love & joy everyday! My students are so eager to learn about their history and life around the world. One student says to me, "I just want to learn about the world." While the other students agreed. My students are ages 7 and 8. They attend a predominantly African American turnaround elementary school in a low income, high poverty and gang filled community. Some are stricken with households filled with drug abuse and domestic violence. 52% are reading at and above grade level. Even though they face challenges within their home and community, they are well behaved with a sense of urgency to learn. The majority of my students are always present and on time to school. They turn in homework on time, participate during class discussions and strive diligently to complete all class assignments with excellence!
