I have the distinct pleasure of teaching third graders at a 41 year old Title I campus in North Texas. Facilitating engagement to heighten critical thinking is my focus each and every day. I strive to engage my students through flexible learning environments as well as cooperative group activities. My thinkers are also squirmers, and their bodies need to be moving while they learn. One of our challenges involves constant wiggling and restless leg syndrome, where the developing bodies of my 8 and 9 year old students do not learn well in traditional plastic seating with four steel leg supports. In order to meet their needs I am posting this project to provide alternative seating which would empower my students to express their bodies without distracting others while they learn and engage with their peers and myself in a meaningful, constructive manner. Thank you for your consideration!
