One of the goals of having these manipulatives in my classroom is to foster peer/team building and collaboration to complete a project. They will allow students the opportunity to problem solve on their own as well as with their peers. By engaging in hands-on experiences during their early education, I hope to instill a lifelong love of learning and to show them that learning opportunities take many different forms. These materials give students multiple ways of growing their collaborative, social/emotional and mechanical skills. The importance of intentional play cannot be overlooked. Having the materials readily available in my classroom to help promote social/emotional and collaborative skills through the use of STEM and dramatic play activities would be greatly appreciated.
