My students are some of the best out there. We have 74 percent free or reduced lunch and sometimes kids come to school without sleep or proper clothing. Many of these instances aren't a full result of neglect, but a different standard of what is socially acceptable. I work with my students to show them that there can be an appreciation of their culture, but also that many companies and schools will require them to modify their work ethic. Our high English Language Learner population also adds in a different cultural element.
