Many of my students have special needs or have experienced trauma in their lives. This sometimes makes it difficult to be the best learner. We are hoping to give our students a room where they can express their feelings and emotions, and engage with a trusted adult. My students are better learners when can work through these difficult feelings. When they leave their classroom after a difficult time, it takes them a few minutes to quiet their bodies and mind. After talking with an adult, they can process the problem, work towards solutions and practice coping skills. My students love school and love to learn. Our goal is to assist in helping our students re-focus though self-awareness, mindfulness and even yoga, so they can feel safe and secure and get back to learning in their classrooms.
