My players are male and female. Mostly African American and Latino. They are seeking experiences and activities that will satisfy their needs to be with positive adults, practice skills and play team sports. Our school is 98% free and reduced-price lunch. We are considered a Title I school with a not so great ABC grading score. Yet our students are still eager to learn and have positive experiences. They want to learn, participate in extracurricular, be heard, voice their thoughts and opinions in a safe environment and be in safe places to live and grow. Our school is considered a neighborhood school so many of our students live near the school. We have a large homeless population of students and families who are seeking after-school opportunities for their children. It is our goal to offer as many enriching experiences as possible. Sports is a great to way for kids to experience a multifaceted approach that is cognitive, affective and physical in nature.
