My school is a neighborhood school within an old textile mill town in the northeast. The textile mills have long been shut down and many stand empty or burned to the ground. Our community and schools hang on by a thread all the while making a commitment to providing the children hope for a brighter future with a quality education. My students are kind and gentle and are willing to help one another as needed socially and academically. They are very eager to learn and are not afraid to ask questions or make mistakes. My students are 21st century learners...they have their own Chromebooks to create, collaborate and explore in all content areas. Their sense of community and collaboration was developed with their face to face interactions within the brick and mortar of the school and extends to our virtual classroom. They complete their homework and submit to their peers to receive feedback before they even enter the building the next morning.
