In our school, music is not just for performing. Music is for creating, responding to, and moving to. We are lucky to be in a school where the arts are essential to education. Our neighborhood magnet school is a public school in a large urban district. Our school and neighborhood is nestled in an artistic community near downtown. Our magnet students come from all over the city. The children come from very diverse backgrounds, but no matter how different their lives outside of school are, inside our school we are a community.
