We are a PreK through 6th grade building, and my class is 1 of 5 kindergarten sections. It is a public school, and our class consists of 21 students who are at various stages of their learning process. My students are ages 5 and 6. They are working hard at reading, writing, math, and many social skills. They are very eager to learn, but like any child at this age, they will become restless if they are required to sit and work for too long. With more and more demands being placed on them, they are craving for a break from the regular routine of learning. Music seems to be the needed ticket to break up this monotony, and at the same time learn many required skills. They love to exercise and use their creativity through rhythmical dancing. After 10 or 15 minutes of singing and dancing they are ready to get back to the daily grind.
