Oftentimes, the words 'inner city' and/or 'urban' comes with a negative connotation. However, my students are learning through the Montessori model how to become critical thinkers and masters of their own fate. Students have determined that qualifying for free and/or reduced lunch, having a family of origin being structured from a single-family model, nor will receiving an education from an urban institution define their success. Students are embracing and utilizing their differences to help catapult them to success.
