Our school is centered around concurrent enrollment that allows students to take college classes as Juniors and Seniors. We have motivated students but they are often first generation college students and on free and reduced price lunch. Our job is to expose them to possible careers and help them find interests for their future education. My goal is to expose the 9th and 10th graders to the possibilities before they start to pick their college classes as 11th and 12th graders. Many of my students are proficient at math but not excited about what they can do with that math and these hands-on projects are a great way to build that interest and joy to get through the classes that can be a grind.
