We are part of an urban school district, bringing many diverse economic and social backgrounds together in a huge melting pot called an elementary school. Our school is the magnet school in our district, providing Basic Skills services. We are enthusiastically bringing a new curriculum to life as we teach reading and writing through Readers and Writers Workshop. The curriculum encourages reading, surrounding the children with authentic literature and quality books and stories. The children are emersed in reading and writing all day.
