We're learning to create the world we live in! I am a K-8 visual arts teacher at a small Title I city public school in a high-need community, with 90% of our students in the free lunch program. We serve a primarily immigrant population in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood; our students come from all walks of life. We have a fully functioning visual and musical arts program, and a number of our graduating student visual artists have been accepted into specialized art high schools. My junior high students study design and applied arts, the current 8th grade being the first group to study all 3 years of design with me, animation being their final unit of study.
