I love my school. I love my students. I am a committed teacher that is willing to work hard to be a great teacher; however, I cannot do it alone. Smartphones, tablets, and the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are causing a paradigm shift in education. Currently, my students use smartphones and tablets to engage and present information on the web. I have created CCSS-aligned lessons that require students to read, think, write, and collaborate online through apps and social media. Students are annotating text, taking notes in the cloud, and debating through Skype, etc. by using their smartphones or tablets. Unfortunately, due to the digital divide, our most disadvantaged students cannot participate, which widens the existing achievement gap. I immigrated to the US as an illiterate refugee from Vietnam. I was able to bridge the digital divide and achievement gap. Will you help me do the same for my students?
