My students are intelligent and adventurous learners in all academic areas with a diverse level of thinking and abilities. They thrive to do their best in math in and out of the classroom. Our school is a Title One school, not having a math program or curriculum to guide instruction makes it difficult to keep them motivated as to develop their math skills. Students are likely to be successful when they have materials and supplies that are their own. Once they are home with math homework, it's a struggle for some to reiterate math skills to their parents about what has been taught in class that particular day or week. Math is all around students everyday and having a guide and being encouraged with the necessary tools and materials to explore "what makes our world and community" is vital to what will make them life long learners and leaders as they succeed in math. I want them to not only explore the world of learning through math, but to be confident students and masters of what they are learning. Math is everywhere and has to be applied and utilized everyday. Yes! I believe they can and I know they will be proficient Mathematicians for life once they receive Must-Know Math Skills Magazines.
