I teach first grade at the largest elementary school in the county. Our school is comprised of 83% of students on free and reduced lunch and live in a high poverty area. Nine out of my 18 students are ELL (English Language Learners). Many students do not have books or supplies at home. The Common Core State Standards have raised the bar on education. The need for materials that are engaging, hands on and effective have never been so great! My students arrive daily, excited to learn. What some may see as a struggle, I see as an opportunity. Support to my project will reap huge profits in the life of a child.
