My students' interest in books varies across the classroom. Our school population is over 50% English Language Learners and we are a Title 1 school. My students have little support and resources at home. As a teacher I am being asked to do more with less. We have been asked to start using EngageNY this coming year for our curriculum in Reading, Writing, and Math. However, we are not being supplied with the required books to implement this new program. I have started to buy the books that we need but I am not able to spend the thousands of dollars that are required for all of the books we need. We need classroom sets and sets for small groups of students of multiple books to help the students prepare for 4th grade.
