My students are all Native American; they live in a rural area with a high percentage of the people creating some form of art within their homes (pottery, jewelry, painting, weaving, etc.) Most of the students come from families that practice the cultural and religious beliefs of our ancestors. Our school includes Pre-K through 2nd grade; most of the teachers in the classroom are Native American from this area. Our school reflects the traditions and beliefs of the people so many of our cultural events are celebrated during our school year. We encourage parental involvement, we have high academic expectations for our students, and we celebrate our students' successes through school wide events and through community activities.
