I thought it would be a fun idea to give the 4th-6th grade students in my school the opportunity to be in a strings program. I thought we might generate enough interest for a small ensemble, perhaps a dozen serious students. As of Day 1 of this program, I have 24 very serious, very committed violin, viola and cello students. This represents almost 7% of the entire student body. We are a small school, focused primarily on core skills. Our principal welcomed the idea of expanding the arts in our school and as the strings director, I am overwhelmed and gratified with the number of serious budding musicians.

About my class
