In an age that is inundated with information and data, it is important to preserve the creative expression that allows us to know and understand beauty, and to promote an unquenchable enthusiasm for meaningful life-long learning. Art education achieves these goals by allowing for a person to experience a sense of wonder which gives expression to the distinctive inclinations that make us most human. Identifying, creating, and appreciating beauty is historically an important and telling facet of the cultural heritage of human beings. My role as an art teacher is to compel students toward their “humanity.”
