Being a brand new teacher, I want to start the year out right, which means a large classroom library. A new leveled reading library will help my students to not only build their decoding and comprehension skills but also expand their world into worlds they have never imagined. Textbooks tend to seem like work to students and reading should be a joy. Having a variety of books available in the classroom from the beginning of the year will allow my students to build independence and confidence as readers as well as addressing the Common Core standards and preparing them for testing.
