Each morning, my students leave their homes and their own preconceived notions of their reading ability to work at meeting the highest of expectations. While many of the students have taken the books in my classroom and ran with them... others have seemed to hit a wall. They read nightly because it is required of them. They read during class when the teacher asks. They read because their friends are reading. What they don't do is read because they want to. These children say they just don't like reading, but the truth is that many of them simply don't understand what they're reading. It is my hope that the book bags I create will not only excite them and get them reading, but also help them to understand what's going on along the way.

About my class
