Words, once they are printed, have a life of their own. - Carole Burnett Words are powerful and they are the key to success. I teach first grade ESL at a title 1 school. We are 80% minority, 100% free lunch, and are surrounded by a low-income area. Our students struggle to meet the grade level standards in reading and writing because of the language barriers. However, they are the most hard-working students I have ever known. Their words, no matter what language, are powerful. To get there we need a little help.
