In New York City, 15% of students in self contained classrooms graduate high school. Obviously, even less go to college. Most people incarcerated in the United States were labeled under Special Education in school. These statistics reflect a broken Special Needs system. In room 140 my kids are working to change those statistics every day. Made up of 12 five to eight-year-olds, these students are living with disabilities that range from autism to severe behavioral and emotional disorders. Many are living in foster homes. Yet despite these hardships, Room 140 Rock Stars are in school every day working tirelessly to build a strong educational foundation to better secure their future. However, they need your help. With so much against them, these kids need the best educational technology at their finger tips!
