My students are inspired by the new ideas that they glean from books. They love to share their perspectives and gain new ones from each other. And they are learning how much fun it is to take a topic and delve deeper based on what the author did and did not write. My students are part of an urban school district, many of which are low-income persistent in their dreams and do not let that stop them. In the words of Frederick Douglas, "Learn how to read, and you will forever be free." I want to inspire my students by freeing their minds through books, knowledge and an engaging intellectual argument.
