My students are great. I have both high school and middle school students that take my engineering and design classes. For middle school, is a required class, so everyone takes it. Some come to class with expectations that they are not going to like it, but most leave with a positive and rewarding experience. In high school it is an elective, so I know they want to be here and they always come to class ready to take on the next challenge.
