My students are extremely dedicated to bringing home math trophies from local, state and national competitions. We practice every morning before school for one hour, and in addition an extra two hours on Tuesday's and Thursday's. That's a total of nine hours per week on extra-curricular engagement in mathematics. And it pays off: We consistently rank in the top ten nationwide. They are very serious about their work and college aspirations, and it is not uncommon for us to do university level work. I am very proud of my students and they continue to be an inspiration to me.
