Some of our students have opted to do remote learning. For those students I plan to do kits so those students get the same experience as they would if they were physically at school. I refuse to just be restricted by what art experience my students will have. NC requires students to learn, painting drawing, printing, 3D, weaving, stitching and clay. I still intend to do it all. Hands on visual art in so good for students. I plan to do a ceramic face unit which enolves using a plastic plate a small cycle of fabric and clay the students will study Picasso and the cereamics he produces in France in the 1950's and the NC tradition of face jugs. Either in the classroom or at home they will shape the clay into a cycle and onto the plastic plate the cricle of fabric stops it sticking. They will crave in the face design and place in a plastic bag to dry. The stroke and coat glaze can be used on green ware and so only has to be fired once instead of twice saving time and money at school. The students will pick a glaze color I have 10 others to go with the two I ordered. I will glaze them. Students at home will get the kit and I will post a how to video and a video of the glazing and firing. Since I will be going into the classroom on a cart I will play these video's in the class as well. combining digit learning with hands on learning.
