The atmosphere in the music room during my chorus rehearsals is intense and exciting. We are singing, moving, listening and learning as we explore and make music from familiar and unfamiliar genres. These predominately Hispanic fourth and fifth grade students are highly motivated to master the skills being taught and move on to more complicated repertoire. These young musicians are hungry to perform and show what they can do. They don't realize that they have generated a momentum to make school a more enriching environment and place it at the center of our community. This momentum has inspired parents and community partners to volunteer for and sponsor the music program.

About my class
