Teaching younger students, I'm reminded daily that their bodies are constantly moving. Given our national obesity crisis and declines in physical health in the United States, it's important to get children moving early! With them spending most of their days at school, they should be able to move freely while they learn. "Ms. S, can I stand while I work?" "Can I sit on the floor?" "Can I lay on the floor?" Questions students would ask daily to avoid having to sit in hard, stationary chairs for long periods of time. Daily, I have to remind students to sit in their chair correctly simply because a stationary chair didn't give them the physical movement their bodies needed. My students are always asking if they can stand up, move around the room, and sit in various areas as they work. The students asked for different options in the classroom to make sitting more comfortable and to allow them to get their wiggles out
